Winds subside in time for first flights

Two of our new students from Canada, Tom Furst and Dave (Chuck) Achtemichuk have been working hard at the training hill and this morning they were ready for their first high flight. The winds in the mountains had backed down, the lapse rate was impressive and it looked like it would be blowing in at launch. We met early to walk the St. Mary's and Parma LZs. The Eagle van headed to Skyport a little before 11:00. It was blowing in nicely at launch when we arrived and Tom and Chuck were ready to go. They both had great flights and landed perfectly in Parma. Congratulations guys, you both did really well. Dave Turner took out student Stewart, who is well on his way to flying solo in the mountain, on a tandem flight and I took our other student DeePak. They both had a great time and said they learned a lot. There were thermals popping in front of launch, at the antennas and a ripper over the neighborhood. Alex is back in town and she had a great flight with lots of smiles. She got to Parma super high and spent a bunch of time playing around and over the LZ. It was nice to see Vic back from his trip to Valle and glad Ethan decided to travel back through on his journey. Nice flying with you guys. Lets do it again tomorrow.
