Six pilots with the Taliban as driver arrived around 10:30 to find strongish cycles already blowing straight up the front of launch. First-timer Joel was quick to volunteer to go first and the rest of us were quick to toss him out there to see what would happen. His radio apparently got knocked off frequency during the launch so he was left to his own decisions for the duration of the flight which consisted of him doing a Captain Kirk and boldly going where no man had gone before. Watching him from above was like watching a Springer Spaniel investigating new territory, buzzing around, nose down, getting into every nook and cranny he could find. As it turned out he had a great flight, landing at the high school after logging more airtime than anyone else.

Matt set the high mark for the day, topping out at around 6800, with Robin close behind at 6600. Terry Taggart made a play over to the Repeaters before turning around to land at the high school with Matt, Joel, and myself. Robin has been considering a change of faith so she dropped into Camp Ramah to see what they're all about. Our other first-timer, Keith from T.O., had a nice flight to the propeller field before pulling a Houdini and disappearing without checking in with the chase crew. All in all a good day, lift was abundant, strong at times, and easily topped the forcasted blips which indicated mid-5's were all we would get.

Vario Log: 1040 fpm up, 760 dn, max alt 6250, 1 hour airtime.

lol! great ojai report! in sb we had strong lift with different shears of wind direction at different altitudes. some got to what looked like 5000 or more later on, and i think i saw lj slip down to vor and back. magic mike and dilly stayed high in the tandem and ucsb chris was killing it maxing out his climbs super smooth style and bouncing around point to point nicely. fun day with nice views, more then several peeps glided out high to the beach!

i also heard that master bader made it down to the powerlines on this day(saturday). nice flyin master bader i think he was the only softy to escape the cage on that funky day.
