For those that don't have to spend time with the mothers in your family, and want to take advantage of the stellar forecast for Pine and the desert, and don't want to hike or drive out to Plowshares, might want to consider Mt. Abel on Sunday. Of course you would have to find someone that's been there before. And you would probably need to take a saw, because it's been a long time since anyone has. But, light NW winds with 14k tops and clouds makes it pretty inviting.

Southside:

I am very interested in flying Abel, and am currently pulling every string I can (no pun intended) to ensure that I am able to make a day of flying this place tomorrow.

So the question remains: Are YOU going to fly Abel on Sunday?? I would love to go if there will be others!

I was sorry to have missed out on flying with the Chief's gang today. From the looks of the clouds driving back from SB it is an epic day (or at least I hope it was)! I knew if I went to take my Ham radio test it would kick off fantastic conditions. Fortunately, I passed, and the weather looks just as good, or better for tomorrow, right?

I wish. But I'll be spending part of the day at brunch. My post was aimed more at the HG pilots since they can't get up to Pine. Sundowner would know better, but I would think that the launch, even in the best conditions, is a bit scetchy for PGs. I know that you would have lay out across the road. And since no one has been up there for years who knows how much clearing needs to be done. I will say that I was up there a few years after the summer Pine was closed and it was still launchable. But if I was flying PGs I think I'd just bite the bullet and hike up to Pine.
