nuthouse fri

wanting to get Aaron more excercise, we bounced up to the nuthouse- optimistically looking at the predicted NE aloft and up to 30 ojai spread... high wispies made their way into the morning and although the valley cleared up mostly, some scud-i-ness persisted... nice launching as usual at the nhouse. marty and kev made the high school and the others did not :( (gotta chalk some of these days up to "adventure excercise.") fun day, as always (!)

A much anticipated chance to hike and fly turned into a post flu slog that made me wonder how it is I made it up the steep climb in hikes past. Somehow, I straggled into launch, enjoyed some nice cycles to cool off, though I was still soaked from the climb up. For some reason, I believed it to be much cooler than it was, and bundled up before hucking off first. Fortunately I was one of the lucky two out of four who connected, and did cool off, a little once up and away...others were denied the sweet fruit of the nuthouse, but not without a serious fight!

Kudos to Andy, for what I thought was a low save, but turned into a low teaser with no love. Same goes for Aaron. Terry, was along for the hike (I admired his pace and verve sans pack....mmmmmm.) and the fact that he was available for retrieve but it was not the day for me to go big, so I was pleased to get to NHS but not without a small tip fold that turned into a slipknot...ugh. Fortunately I was at the top of my best climb (5280) and was heading out anyway, and with or without the extra drag, I had NHS made...eventually I cleared it with a simple big ear, after much fruitless yanking on the brake line to no avail. Congrats to Kevin H. on his first Nut experience, who climbed out (after I was long gone) on his own, tanked up and met me at the Pyrimid to out climb me a few turns before a detour back to the launch ridge and then finally out to the green field next to the High School.

Thanks to Terry, though we didn't do more than catch a shuttle to the base of the hill this time, you were willing had it been better to chase us wherever and that is appreciated! Aways a sobering hike for me, but you guys are my heroes! Gotta love the Nut initiation, every time you go.

Nice! Love seein' fresh faces at the Nut too! I've been so busy this year I haven't had a chance to get up there but I see a wee window opening up next week. Let's get it!

fun adventure with friends! for some reason on the quick flight down i remembered an odd story i read of madonna's a long time ago and her quote was the popular 'you win some, you lose some'.. which ending up being my mantra the last couple of days. i googled the story tonight as i usually dont remember the facts right...but i was pretty close this time.. here is a good chuckle

"In a one-page story by Madonna, she chronicles her affair with a Puerto Rican kid who had "hardly any pubic hair." She claims to think she devirginized him and yet he inexplicably ends up giving her crabs. "So you win some you lose some," she concludes. "

good gawd i love madonna, hands up!!
