saturday, double your pleasure
Posted: Sat Jan 28, 2012 6:44 pmafter landing today i couldnt get the old double mint gum commercial out of my head. remember when the twin blonde chicks in bikinis jumped in the pool as the 'make it last a little longer, double your pleasure, double mint gum' jingle played. i remember being like mahn, i gotta get my big wheel to the store and get me some double mint gum! today hg's went up for two flights, two van fulls at two launches, two herds of vultures thermallin on the drive up, bo doublin everyone elses flight, and i got two flights myself.
did the sunrise hike with justin up sage this morning for easy foward plunges on the little gliders in sweet conditions giving us that beavis and butthead like laugh after landing like we just got away with something. then came back over the hill and caught a full eagle bus up to ej bowl. nice south east cycles made for an easy jump into the air. dribbled my altitude away down to just below the tit as it was just a touch early it seemed. slow climbin up tit to top of rr and pointed it back to ej. took a long time to get even with the road and cruised to la cumbre where andy made it look decent and faoro and another were above cathedral. got even with la cumbre and slid over to altenator where a bunch of horned up folk were gettin airborne. flushed out to the knob and found a few hundy and off to no name. came in good position in the notch in the back and climbed quickly to 3900. poopy glide back to westbowl and gained a few hundred back to 3300 and off to cathedral. couldnt find much low there so jumped back to the rocky east finger and at 2400 gave it a go and came in just below the knob on tunnel trail. lift seemed to be getting better and got some sweet uptime over knob then tit then rr, off to thermal factory and back to 3700. caught a glimpse of bo high at romero and went in pursuit, but got slow climbs at shadow, monticito, east monticito. off to layer cake for some tasty rising air and back to 4000(for my high of the day) at romero where my glider was getting jumpy. bo was up past castle and said it was getting spicy. this cracka dont like spice, and being the homing pigeon i am i enjoy trying to get back to my van. easy glides and climbs on the way back and off for the riveria tour before touchdown at parma. frickin rad day in our backyard!! frickin albatross bo trying to get as far away from a ride home as possible landed in ojai. nicely done bo!! hopefully he will post the adventure...
