Memorial Day trip??

I'm thinking of heading to the Owen's for Memorial Day again this year. Is anyone up for it? Would like to start some thinking about rides, drivers, etc. now before it gets too close and we all start scrambling.

Extended forecast is looking to be pretty good with highs in the upper 80's to low 90's. I know you can never trust a forecast that far in advance, but it makes me smile! Anyone want to carpool?

Well... forecasts seem to differ among every single weather site. I'm still on for a trip this weekend... If the Owen's doesnt' work, where would be a good alternative? I want to go fly.... anyone with me?

I was hoping to try for a big flight from Walt's in the near future but according to Kari Castle, the road to Walts won't be open until possibly mid June. She rode her bike to launch and will post some photos to her blog soon.

Kari says it needs some work to improve the area for PG launching. She may be able to get a key to the gate for the road, and was wondering if some volunteers would bring shovels and help improve the lip of the take off and round it more. Anyone interested in a work party with the hope of flying this great site?

She estimated 5-10 people with shovels could make a huge difference in 1-4 hours. Sounds like an early morning showing on the first day (and whatever is deemed helpful on following days) might be worthwhile for everyone.

Man... sounds fun. Unfortunately, my weekend just changed for the worse. My Mother-In-law is going in to surgery today or tomorrow. I need to be in town to support Adena and the family so I'm going to be flying local. Maybe Pine might open up Sun or Mon? Any news from Robb heading up there to work on Rhonda earlier this week?

I hope some people head out for some Memorial flying madness... Post 'em if you got 'em...

Weather does not looks good for Owens for Sat/Sun. NW gusting to 30+ mph. Monday maybe flyable, SE 10 mph turning to south. I may go for one day Monday, but will decide Sun. evening.

James, your fellow Lompocian is interested in flying "locally" this weekend too. Give me a call if/when you can/want to go. It looks like Cayucos is going to be on, hopefully not too strong. Haven't analyzed the Plowshare situation. Hope to see you...JF
