Flying in Iquique, Chile

Postby Allison » Mon Jul 31, 2006 7:08 am

Hello everyone!
I just returned from a great time flying in Chile. I wanted to pass the word along about this paraglider gem. The flight park where I stayed was a paraglider's dream. Andy Keller recommended it to me and it was seriously amazing. They have lodging right at the lz, there are all paragliding pilots who stay there, and there are paragliding posters and decorations all over the place. You can check out the site www.altazor.cl Philip is the paragliding instructor/tandem guy. He lives there with his wife and family and they truly are the nicest people in the world. In Iquique there are 2-3 different sites that you can fly. The closest site, most easiest to get to, you can take the local bus to the launch! How sweet is that when you are travelling. If you are ever interested in going there, let me know. It is the desert and it doesn't rain, so every day is flyable. It is right on the ocean, too. They say that November through February are the 'best' days.

I'm jealous!

We haven't had the best summer, or year for that matter here in Santa Barbara. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics and hanging out with you and Aaron.

Welcome home, we missed you!
