Hope you guys killed it at Pine today! The cloud streets over the Cuyama Valley were seen from Lompoc yesterday (Friday). Wish I could have made it.

Pine was sweet today - climbs to 12k cloudbase just over the back from the campgrounds...Pinos OD'd...cloudstreet to SB but filled in with 3k of cloud deck...fun over the back to the big black cloud and onto the southerly cloudbase edges, almost 50-50 to Gilermo to Frasier...then committing to valleys south to escape the darkness and find lift, climb out and glide on past I5.

Well, I FINALLY made it into Lockwood Valley!!! I launched after Zippy and found lift right away that took me to 10K. I then boated up and down the range between 9K and 11K. Reliable lift was always over launch/knob, so I kept going back there to tank up. I hit 12.7K in one of those tank ups. I went OTB at 11.7K and headed straight toward Lockwood Valley because there was a big cloud in that direction. I could see rain on the northwest side of LV. Terry Taggert was scratching over the badlands and DD had landed at Dry Canyon. I was down to 7500 and was thinking about heading back to Dry Canyon, when I started getting lift over a big hill north of LV road and west of the badlands. I rode that to 10.2K and then told Kathleen that I'm going to make it into LV. I stated heading SE to get away from the rain and it started hailing pea sized ice balls on me. I'm heading toward the foothills to the south of LV, but they are all in the shade and I get nothing. I'm down to 7000 and made a bee line toward the airport. I get there with enough altitude to do a few circles in an attempt to find the wind direction - it was N NW. It seemed like there was no wind on final and at the last minute, I remembered that the ground is 5100 feet, so I threw the bar out way earlier than normal and landed nicely. I should have landed closer to the road, but that never entered my mind - long walk, but nice and flat. Terry landed on the south side of the road close to the airport. Jonathan landed at Quail Lake, and I don't know where Marge, Bob Anderson, and Zippy landed. It was a fun day. Now I'm gunning for the Antelope Valley.

Looked super sweet! Nice run Dave to Lockwood... Wished I could have made it with you guys. Jeff, we have to get your glider out here soon! Thanks for driving on the last couple of runs up to the hill.

Maybe some local flying this week after the storm?
