art and i are flying nuthouse today. meet 1030 at nordhoff for hike/fly madness~... don't want to overstate the possibilities (as usual) but often i'm just blown away by the available paragliding at this site on a regular basis. for newer pilots: it can be a tough hike, tough launch and having decent intuitive powers is a big plus. altho, we often skyout w/ horrible intuition. looks ok today, we'll just have to see what we get. the adventure quotient is always high.

Andy D; the present day Shackleton:

Men wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages. Bitter cold. Long months of complete darkness. Constant danger. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success.

Sounds like a nuthouse expedition!

women r also invited to partake in nuthouse madness super-expeditions! yeah, most of the adventure is a comparison between taking a truck to a high launch and hot hiking w/ flies... no one sells an expedition like chrisG tho. didn't he get 20 pilots there last year?

anyway,i got about 2600feet above launch today along nuthouse ridge in very nice thermals. we took it easy and just flew to the high school. gained over 1K halfway between nordhoff ridge and the hs where i came in about 2k over. tons of potential today in ojai.

Bob Hurlbett, Benson Lamb and I got a ride up to Skyport from Bob's wife, Sara (how about that for a Valentine's Day present?) who is just recovering from the flu. Thanks, Sara, and Happy Valentine's Day! We got to 3,600 at launch and I touched the R&R before crossing back and sinking out at the Thermal Factory. Left the Antenna Farm with 2,800 and made the East Beach Challenge a day late (and a dollar short). Benson and Bob opted for Parma Park where Sara was taking pictures. Stellar weather at the beach. 45 minute flight.
