since the nuthouse doesn't usually care about scientific observations like lapse rates and the N of the morning in sb wasn't raging in ojai, art, chris g. and i hit the nhouse thinking positively. launch cycles were typical and it was 'escape from alcatraz' getting over and past nhouse ridge. i got up to a surprising 4650ft on the west end of nord ridge in a slow motion thermal drifting toward the tower... air quality was odd but nothing too strong or nasty and we all easily made the high school right before the mountains shaded in.

Gotta admit, I was pretty skeptical given the 22ยบ spread and sub-optimal BLIPS but it turned out to be a nice day for the milk-run to the HS. It was definitely smooth and light up the Nuthouse spine but the air seemed a bit weird toward Nordhoff ridge.
