DEAN STRATTON/EAGLE PG WEEKEND XC CLINIC

Forgive me for posting this under Flight Discussion. I wanted to make sure everyone got a look at this since this clinic is happening this weekend.
The weather looks good for flying this weekend here in Santa Barbara. Eagle Paragliding has had a thermal XC / Thermal clinic scheduled Saturday & Sunday March 7-8 with our own US National Champion Dean Stratton. I have advertised this clinic in my newsletter and the USHPA magazine, and have some out of state pilots attending. I figured some local pilots may want to take advantage since the weather looks very good this weekend. Current members of the SCPA, SBSA, and So Cal League Meets get a big discount. The cost of this clinic for these pilots is $295. The clinic is normally priced at $495. There is a limit to how many pilots can attend, but there are still spaces available.
Dean will be making a Google Earth presentation, including track logs, and XC maps on the most popular XC routes in So. Cal. The routes he will talk about are Santa Barbara East to the I-5, Owens Valley into Nevada, and Pine Mtn. to Antelope Valley – and beyond. He will have photos taken from the air along these routes as well. Generally, there are so many things to cover over a weekend that there really isn’t much time to fly, however, the weather forecast looks good so we plan to head up the hill and plan an XC route for the day. We can then download your track-logs and import them into Google Earth for discussion. We plan on spending Saturday afternoon and evening back at Bob & Marge’s place after flying to view Dean’s presentations and go over the day of flying.
We will plan on meeting at Marge & Bobs place at 8am Saturday March 7th.
Here are directions:
• From 101 exit on State St go 9/10 mile (State St becomes Hollister but you won’t even notice)
• Make a Left at Auhay (The First Baptist Church is on the corner)
• Quick Left after house on the corner which is the road behind the church
• It’s the 1st house on the right – You can park in the church parking lot.
