SB Flying Saturday

PGs at Alternator were getting to 3400' consistently above West Bowl in 6 mph East wind early on before 1PM. Later a couple of PGs were getting higher, above launch, out front. Bo and Wade traversed between NoName and West Bowl numerous times as the day turned on. Irene celebrated her birthday with a scenic flight.

Scotty Angel thought it was better later and flew his HG from Eliminator to Romero to VOR to Eliminator to East Beach for the SB flight of the day, 3 hours flight time, getting to 4k couple of times, 3.5k at VOR. Zippy turned back at No Name for the next best SB flight. Hammer had the height of the day getting to 5100' at Montecito Peak ! - something goes on there in these East wind type days...

Seems later was better in town...I saw Scotty at the VOR for no less than 30 minutes, spinning circle after circle, to finally top out and glide on to West Bowl...2:30 PM He met Andy Dainsberg at East Beach !

Cheers,
:D

Bob,
I flew with you at Marshall/Crestline in the XC Comp. Are you planning on flying today? If so, what time. I'm thinking about heading that way in a hour or so.
Thanks,

Shout out to Heidi, who got to 4900 over Alternator - nice thermalling!

We tried to glide east, but that east wind was really killing our buzz and our glide, so we ended up turning back. I reconnected on the back spine at Alternator and got a few more scraps, but nothing really boosted me as high the second time. On the way out, there seemed to be lift most everywhere, the trick being to drift with it.

Fun day, hope we get some more next weekend for the So Cal XC !!!
