25ยบ spread in Ojai with light North. Should be BANGIN'. Because of the heat and potential for the day I'll propose a 9:30 meet time at Nordhoff HS. I suspect the 11:45 witching hour will be a little earlier too. Call or email to confirm that you're game so I know who's coming.

Bit of a weird day. Started at 9:40 to beat the heat a little and rolled into launch 45 minutes later. The cycles were already better than we've seen the last few days but not as strong as I would have expected given the huge lapse rate. Since I was solo and the Nuthouse is no place to be out of touch I had OJ on the radio and he thought the forecast looked a bit weird. I agreed. Not sure how to reconcile a huge lapse, with low BL-Tops and zip for wind through 12k. There was an inversion in VBG but SB looked fine and I didn't see any haze line in Ojai. Launched at 11:55 just to give things time to heat up and after a few passes below launch managed to get one up and over 300 feet. I figured that was the ticket out but was scolded by an East wind that started wrapping around. Flags on launch suddenly went straight East and all the lift got frisbeed out toward Matilija Dam. The Nuthouse in East wind is about as fun as a bag of dead mice and I wasn't getting the altitude to feel comfortable so I worked my way out front hoping to find magic air that would get me out. There were some bubbles out front but they were mostly disorganized and blown apart. Landed next to my car after 10-15 minutes of pummelage and scratching. There was supposed to be some offshore flow today which would explain the East but I'm still not seeing it at the reporting stations.
