Posted: Thu Dec 18, 2008 4:20 pmThe peak was reporting north, and Kabir was reporting the same at the ranch. We saw wind in the channel in the morning. The lapse rate looked good and we figured it just had to block. We decided to wait and let it heat a bit, and then set a meet time for Parma at 11.
We rallied up to launch in the Eagle van and found it chilly up there. Little John, Aaron, and JR were all about ready to go from the Eliminator when we turned the van around.
Bob Peloquin chucked of first and climbed out nicely, then headed to the beach. I got off next and Jason Middleton was right behind me. Jason climbed out then headed to the factory, and had another nice climb there. I got up at launch and headed over to the double R to fly with Aaron. I had a nice climb there, and pointed it toward the factory. Jason Middleton was turning above the factory and looked close to 5K.
I was feeling some WNW flow when I topped out in the climbs. Kabir and Kevin Howe had launched and Kabir joined me at the factory. I climbed to about 4700 then decided to push west again and got to the HH with 4200. I was staying out front since it was working. The guys on launch were reporting that the cycles had backed off, and some of the gang were not getting up at launch, and the glide out was pretty uneventful for those looking for lift.
It seemed like the block was fading as pilots were unable to get up at launch, and were mostly getting sledders at this point. Kabir and I had a ride from the beach so we headed out. It was light SE as we landed in front of the double tree. We picked up Bob and headed back to Parma. Thanks to Corey, Tallulah, and Mateo for picking us up, and taking us to the habit for lunch.
