Sunday Morning Synopsis:
Robust weather on tap through mid week due to a series trailing cold fronts sweeping through in succession, with each iteration swinging a bit further south. The southern tail of a system that passed to our north swept through last night, clearing out the marine scud and leaving a strong lapse rate and wind in its wake.

Flying the mountains may be challenging due to the NW post frontal wind, but the flow aloft is forecast to decrease some through the day and there may be an opportunity for gliders launching down lower or fast gliders launching from the north side of the Brotherhood. The lapse rate is strong, so if you can hang on... likely not suitable for Paragliders. Debbie was gusting over 25 at dawn and Montecito was reporting 40ish from the NE as expected, but it is forecast to back off some... Debbie had backed down to 15ish by 8:30

With the mountains blown out for the aging old timers, expect a horde to descend on Bates. There is wind in the Channel early, and it was blowing across Isla Vista before dawn. Some early wind at Sterns Warf, but calm in Carpinteria. Expect the wind to pull in at Bates, but Bates is known to be fickle and the wind is only forecasted to be about 15ish across the Oxnard Plain, kinda of low for a post frontal day. Hopefully, the strong lapse rate will suck in the wind at Bates, but not too strong.

John Scott (Southside) is driving up to Bates from Brentwood with a crew of several HG pilots plus his daughter for crew. Their estimated arrival is early afternoon, which should be ok for HGs and PG speed wings, but if you want to connect across the freeway to La Conchita and fly to Ventura in a PG you might want to time the leading edge of the wind.
