Chiefs

Full bus up to Chiefs today, but all that flew had lift filled flights and landing at the propeller field for the newbies and tandems, with OJ making NHS look easy on his smoking hot (and stealthy to find) Delta 2.

Climbs were strong 900+up and the highest I got was a little over 6K. Tagged Nordoff ridge but tracked back to the Propeller field for a landing in front of the family of the passenger waiting with cameras. Had some visiting pilots who did well and were all smiles.

Permits are secured for both Saturday and Sunday, so if interested you might give Chris or Brendan a holler before they fill up.

Cheers,

Marty

Looking forward to PINE!

Just a couple of short hops to the high school on Friday & Sunday to shake out the cobwebs from not flying the mountains lately. Friday was the better day, first thermal was good for a thousand over and from there it was simple connect-the-dots to the lz. Sunday was different, lots of SE flow and punchy. Launching last, I saw that everyone was doing better half way down to Twin Peaks instead of the usual spot at the top of the spine. Nothing above launch altitude today, it was a low level rodeo ride the whole way. I would have checked out early and gone to the propeller field but Bob H. set the bar high by slogging along Nordhoff Ridge so I followed suit. Good glide out for us with a 7 mph tailwind to the school and cold beers at the Deer Lodge after.

Friday: 760 fpm up, 560 dn, max alt. 5811, 41 minutes.

Sunday: 640 up, 800 dn, max alt. 4816, 42 minutes.
