Nuthouse Friday?

Postby DeVietti_Marty » Thu Mar 28, 2013 7:14 am

Looking to fly the Nuthouse tomorrow...any takers? The temperature spread looks strong, and winds aloft look light, so other than a pesky job or responsibilities, what is stopping anyone??? With a forecast this good, it seems that you could call in sick, saying you have a problem with your eyes. (I can't SEE working on a flyable day like this!)

I'm thinking an early-ish meet time (10am?) to beat the heat and bugs, and launch as early as the day allows. Aaron? Chris? Ron? OJ? Tom? Brendan? Bob? Kevin? Anyone???

Oh man, I'd be so IN but I'll be at the hill. I was hoping for a Sunday run at the NH but the weather looks iffy.

33 degree spread, at least that's what WAS forecast, now it is down to 24 to 29 depending on where you look. Nonetheless, It looks really good. Sorry Chris, I wish you could go with us. Long time since we got to go fly together! Next time, let's hope.

Cheers,
Marty

Thanks for the personalized invite Marty. I can't fly today but I can give pilots a ride from NHS to the trailhead so maybe I'll see you at the meet time.

Thanks to Brendan for the boost to the trail. I launched at 11:55 and it was a patient 30 minutes to get established and Eastbound. Got some isolated strong climbs but mostly small-cored windy snakes in the beginning. Got to 5k+ near Bruce's, then shot straight to Chief's spine where the lift was abundant so I took the escalator to the top floor and got to 6k+ and then was back to Stooges, where I caught another big climb. Nordoff ridge gave a final tank up and had a 4:1 glide to NHS.

It wasn't bad, nor was it Epic, but all in all, I'd say it was a GOOD Friday, if ever I've flown one.

Here are some pics when not managing the wing...it was chunky at times!

Max rate of climb 800+fpm, 2 hours of fun, but could have been longer if I had some company....
Cheers,

Marty
