Went up to EJ bowl with Howe, alBOtross!, and Irene. I think we got there about 11:30ish. Once on launch Irene discovered she accidently brought her tandem glider. Bo offered to be her passenger but then she realized she had no tandem passenger harness among other things. Bo and I went down to the van and got my speedwing harness and then the phone rings. Irene also needs a helmet, gloves, and a warm shirt. hmmmm, we rummage through and find a big ole mountain bike helmet, work gloves and long sleeve shirt from yesterdays launch clean up..yum... so up we go, Irene ended up being the paddenger.
Hung a right to la cumbre off launch and found a slooowwww climb to 4100. took it to altenator and only found tons of west wind. down to the bump and took the tailwind to cathedral. still lots of wind so just let it push me most of the way up cathedral and to the east. came in below tunnel tit and finally got a nice climb. game on! caught up with howser, alBotross!/Irene at thermal factory. Howser punched east. couldnt get above 3500 but plenty to slide into shadow. kept bumping along with howser blazing the way and alBotross/Irene in tow. from castle on, climbs were better but more funkadelic. kept floating on, howser flushed at the powerlines and i climbed to 4200 and totally wussed out on continuing east.. arghhhh, i gots problems with going into that abyss, maybe i need to get more hammered when i fly...anyways. landed at the hot dog stand, howser landed at lego land park and alBotross!/Irene at Carp Middle School. Amazing flight they did on that tandem! fun day all around! i hear tons of people launched later, specked out and headed to the beach. After Chris McKeller landed at the beach he came way out of his way to retrieve all of us in carp. thanks a million!
P.S. a huge thanks to the Eagle crew who drove everyone up yesterday to clean up skyport and ej bowl. a bunch of hg pilots were there cleaning launches too. they all look beautiful!!! thank you thank you
