So Cal XC League Meet in SB today

Postby Marge » Sun Apr 10, 2011 6:56 am

Dean is bring the crew here today, Sunday, April 10, 2011 for a SO Cal XC league meet. He wants to take advantage of a rare opportunity to have a task in SB. It will be a bit cold so dress warm and break out those mittens your grandma bought you years ago.

Day one was held yesterday in Marshall and they said it was awesome. Cloudbase ranged from 6-7k and cumis were abundant. They even got snowed on a few times. They had a 50 km task with several in goal - nice!

SB Check-in and waypoint uploads are at 9 a.m. at "THE-T". "THE-T" is one of the primary LZ's for SB. Pilot briefing will take place right after check-in from 9:30-10. Dean will probably get there around 8:30 for anyone needing help with their GPS. Once they start check-in he'll be too busy to help with misc GPS items.

Everyone is welcome to attend. There will be two tasks called for the day. One for hang gliders and one for paragliders. Please check out the web site at http://www.usxcleague.com/usxcleague/index.html for more information or give me a call. 805-722-5222.

Hope to see you there,
Marge

Thank you Dean for getting something going over here. I think it was a really good day for a task. Typically challenging but I saw a number of people going deep in the task. I missed my wing man Ben H. and also Greg B. as I know they would have entered had they been there. Since I am so lame with my gps (I couldn't establish a route if my life depended on it) I aborted and tried to do fly some of the route from memory. So for myself flying a hang glider I just cruised around and TRIED to follow Hammer which NEVER works and it didn't work this time either but I sure do love trying. Great to fly in SB and see the gang for my second flight since August. We sure are lucky to fly here.
