Skyport to Parma, building inversion
http://paraglide.net/log/10/10_05-12/1_ ... _parma.htm
______
10:30 update: confirm 11 am at east beach and 11:15 at Parma.
______
9:45 update: The north wind on the ridge is a little late backing off, so we won't likely meet till 11ish at Parma, 10:45 at east beach. The wind in the channel has backed off to almost calm, and the winds aloft forecast is calling for light and variable, but there was a lot of wind on the ridge last night. I'll post again by 10:30ish and won't likely depart home base until the wind starts to back off on the ridge line.
______
4 am Wednesday evaluation: Projected meet time about 10ish at Parma, but dependant on the trend after sunrise. Another transitional opportunity after the wind but before the inversion builds. Blowing hard on the ridge overnight, but that should back off by mid morning and will likely be launchable from EJ's and the Alternator by noonish. The lapse rate is not as good as Monday, but should be adequate to get up and move around. Without the wind, thermals should be reasonably organized over the conventional triggers. May see a double pulse with lower clouds from early convection underneath the morning scrub, then some drying and rising base as temperatures increase and relative humidity falls. High clouds moving overhead in the afternoon will likely affect the distance potential later in the day. The inversion and associated marine layer will continue to build and be pretty heavy by the weekend, requiring a move inland to access reasonable thermal soaring conditions. I have a must keep appointment in the afternoon, so will likely fly to Carpinteria.
