Bates 11/28?

Postby Chris G » Sat Nov 28, 2009 8:40 am

I'm going to go check out Bates at some point today. Probably too strong for a paraglider but I have a Gin Bobcat demo with me that experienced pilots can check out. Might just be soarable which is guaranteed to put a big stupid grin on your face. If you're interested, give me a ring and we'll coordinate times.

Turned out to be pretty good for for the Bobcat. Andy D and I took turns boating (I use 'boating' loosely since you're hauling ass) around over the usual ridge in stinkin' strong air. Very switchy though. When OJ and I arrived it was SW, then NW, then S, then E then OTB at 20+. OJ got the last of the SE and took a speed-run to the beach.

Surprised there weren't more HGs out there.

On the deck, we were watchin it change direction and strength all day long...it was a Brotherhood Day, all day.
The sky is calling.

A Glider friend said the sailplanes were getting over 17,000 in wave lift in the Santa Ynez valley on Sat. :o
Hangliding is not the best.
Paragliding is not the best.
Thermal flying IS the best!
